Do Your Research

With over 250 ActionCOACH offices alone in the UK, there are a lot of coaches out there to choose from. Your business coach needs to be someone you trust and gel with.

Business coaches can be invaluable to your business but in order for them to help, you must be open and prepared to make changes. If you’re not open to change then, with the best will in the world, a coach cannot help you.

You’ve decided you want a business coach but how do you choose the right one for you? There are so many coaches out there, it can be overwhelming to choose one. So, where do you start?

Choose A Business Coach with Experience

What experience do they have? It doesn’t necessarily matter what type of business background they come from so long as they have experience.

Their knowledge is going to help shape the future of your business so the more knowledge they have, the better.

Different coaches have different approaches. Some focus on improving one aspect of your business such as building a better team or helping you spend less time in the business, other coaches have a broader approach.

Choosing your coach should align with what you’re wanting help with. If your goal is to build a better team, a specialist coach is for you. If your goal is to improve the business as a whole, a business coach with knowledge in all areas is for you.

Choose A Business Coach with Good Reviews

You think you’ve found a coach with credible experience but how do you know if they’re actually any good? Look at their clients’ comments and testimonials.

Testimonials are directly from current or past clients and will give you an honest opinion on their experience. They give you the chance to see just how their coach helped their business grow.

Testimonials usually appear on the coach’s website so don’t take these as gospel. Do some more research. Look at google reviews, look on social media to see if anyone is talking about them. The more reviews there are, the more likely that the coach is credible.

You’ve Done Your Research, Now What?

You’ve found a business coach you like the look of, now is time to speak to them. At this point I’m sure you will have loads of questions.

How Do I Know This Business Coach Is For Me?

How you choose a business coach has a lot to do with your initial interaction. Good coaches usually offer a complimentary first meeting. This is where you can sit down and ask all the questions that you have.

This is a great opportunity for you to both get familiar. As well as giving you the opportunity to ask everything you want, the coach will be able to learn about your business and start to think about your growth.

If a buisness coach doesn’t offer a complimentary first meeting then you risk investing your money with someone who isn’t a good fit for you or your company.

I’m sure we have all experienced speaking to someone online and when we meet them in person they’re not who we pictured at all.

Go With Your Gut

Your gut reaction will tell you a lot.

Choosing a business coach is a big deal. It is a big investment for your company, so you want someone who gets you and your business.

Your initial reaction after your first meeting is important. If you didn’t like their style, that coach probably isn’t for you as you won’t get the most out of your sessions.

Did you come out of that session with a positive mindset? Were you excited to get things off the ground? It can be difficult to remember why you went into business if you’re working in it every day, but if that coach helped excite you about moving forward, that is a good sign.
