Business didn’t come naturally to us, and we knew we needed advice and support. We met with John and he just made us feel at ease straight away. We attended a couple of his workshops and we walked away feeling really positive about what we could do.

We left the workshops knowing there was lots we needed to work on; developing our brand, our marketing, how to better deal with our clients and how to build our confidence when dealing with clients, especially when pricing for work.  All these things were a challenge because up until then, we didn’t have any business background or training.  

The importance of planning

We’ve been working with John a year and a half now and when we started, he got us to focus on where we were in terms of clients, our financials, our goals for the business and how close we were to achieving them.  We also looked at our goals for the future and started to put a rigorous plan in place.  Once we had an ide of where we were aiming, we put a 90 day plan in place and started to break down what we needed to do into small manageable tasks.   Everything we planned was tested and measured so we started to know what was working and what wasn’t.  Working with John has given us a direction and focus, but more importantly, we now have that constant development in the business that means we are improving all the time.  It makes me wish we did this from the beginning as we would be further along with our goals now.   

The impact of coaching

Business has grown massively and working with some Global businesses has enabled us to travel the world.  When we started working with John, we never really thought this would be possible but with hard work and acting on the advice from John,  we’ve made it happen. 

Working with John teaches you about the importance of knowing your numbers and measuring what you do, so that you can improve on them.  As a result, our average sale has absolutely rocketed.  Working on things like the five ways numbers enabled us to increase our average sales by 45% over the last year.  We now believe in ourselves and what we do and price jobs according to the value we bring to our clients – we have just hit our first five figure job which we wouldn’t have thought possible before.  Last year, we set ourselves a target of increasing sales by 1/3.  John constantly pushes us and already this years we have increased by 72% from the previous year, which was absolutely incredible. 

The impact on us

Seeing the results we are getting really helps develop that self belief.  Now when we are dealing with clients, we are confident on things like branding and marketing.  Johns helped us understand how clients perceive our business and to understand the value we bring – we don’t just make videos, we help clients communicate their story.  It has given us confidence to put a proper value on what we do and we now charge appropriately.

You have to set your vision and work hard but you’ll definitely see results working with John.
